You can use Account Leads to maintain accounts and contacts before they are qualified as potential business for your organization. Account Leads are best used if you have a larger or unlimited market that touches many people or if you have acquired a list for marketing. Account Leads are not intended for small and/or finite markets.
Account Leads contain basic contact information, the lead source and a lead status.
Account Leads allow for the use of Activities and Reminder Activities, Documents, Notes and Preference Settings.
Once leads are qualified, you can convert them into CRM (Customer Relationship Management) accounts and contacts.
Once an account lead is converted to an account, it remains in the Account Leads screen. See Best Practices for information about displaying and viewing converted account leads.
Add and Edit Account Leads
To add a new account lead:
- Main Menu > Account Leads - select "Account Leads - Event Sales". The Account Leads | Event Sales screen opens.
- Click the Add button. The Add Lead screen opens.

- Account Rep - Name of the person who will manage the Lead.
- Lead Status - Status that represents where the lead is in the lead lifecycle.

- Event Opportunity - Event Description, Type and other Event related information which may apply to your Lead.
- Campaign Source - (optional field - which you may need to add to your layout) enter the Campaign that generated the lead.
- Any other information you have which may be of benefit.

Convert an Account Lead to an Account
When an account lead is qualified as potential business, you can convert it to a CRM account. Once the account lead is converted to an account, you can create an opportunity to further work the potential business.
Once an account lead is converted to an account, documents, activities or emails added to the account lead move to the account and do not display on the account lead. You cannot undo a converted account lead.
- Click the Account Leads - Event Sales link from the Main Menu. The Account Leads screen opens.
- Select the lead to convert.
- Right-click and select Convert to Account. An account and contact are created from the lead. The account and contact are available in the Accounts screen and Contacts screen.
Delete an Account Lead
You can delete account leads that are no longer needed.
- Click the Account Leads - Event Sales link from the Main Menu. The Account Leads screen opens.
- Select the lead to delete. Select multiple leads using Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click.
- Right-click and select Mark for Delete.
- Click the Save button at the bottom of the screen.
Best Practices
Once an account lead is converted to an account, it remains in the Account Leads screen for reporting. It is recommended to create multiple views on the Account Leads screen to display the account leads that are converted, account leads that are not converted and all account leads (both converted and non-converted). Use the Converted On and Converted By columns to create these views.

Hello there,
When using Leads, is it possible to select an existing Company in the Company Name field? It is possible to select from the Market Segments and Account Reps etc - just wondering if we can pick Company too - would be brilliant.

Elizabeth - I'd be interested in hearing your business need for this. Typically, a lead represents a piece of prospective business who should not yet be a full-fledged Account in the system. If they are already an Account, we'd recommend using an Opportunity to track prospective business.

Hi Theresa,
I posted this article a year ago (https://supportcenter.ungerboeck.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360003825294-More-possibilites-with-CRM-Leads-Account-Leads) and I've got some response from the Community - none from Ungerboeck

Hi Mag,
Currently, it is not possible to add a lead to an existing account in Ungerboeck. Leads are for if you are unsure whether to convert to an account yet or not. If you already have an account I would suggest creating an event opportunity.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Nina,
6 years ago I posted an article for CRM Product Ideas concerning the possibility to Import Leads from, for example, Excel:More possibilites with CRM Leads/Account Leads – Momentus Support Center (ungerboeck.com)
The articles has received a number of uppvotes, but no response from USI/Ungerboeck/Momentus

Hi Nina,
As Tiina mentioned, this is already a post in the community. I would recommend adding an upvote and comment to this, so our Product team can see this is a requirement for more of our customers.
Kind regards,
Jodi
