If you use a date/time field in a Formula Field configured with the Text type, it displays the date value from SQL (integer/numeric) rather than a date format. For example, in the Events screen, combining the Event Search and the Year:
- Formula: ={Search} &" - " &{Start Date}
- Desired outcome: UGC – 2030
- Actual outcome: UGC – 42998
To display a date in a text field:
- Click the Events button from the Global Navigation Bar. The Events screen opens.
- Select an event.
- Click the Edit Layout hyperlink in the bottom right corner of the screen. The Edit Layout screen opens.
- Click the Add Field button. The Add Custom Field, Column, Or Action screen displays.
- Select Formula.
- Click the Continue button. The Add Formula Custom Field screen displays.
- Enter the necessary information:
- Label - Name of the field.
- Formula - Formula and wildcards for the field. To display the date field, enter the following: TEXT({Date field},"dddd, dd mmm yyyy"). You can replace the format with any date format you prefer in Excel.
- Data Type - Select Text.
- Click OK.
