A silent install allows for the installation of a software program by an administrator that requires no end user interaction. You can use the install commands provided below to install the Outlook Add-In and/or the Office Add-In.
To use the silent install, you must understand the Microsoft switches. Momentus Technologies is able to provide guidance for using a silent install but since there are many different tools available for this, Momentus cannot guarantee it to work in your specific setup.
To configure a silent install, locate the extracted Momentus Outlook Add-in.msi file and/or the Momentus Office Add-in.msi file and copy it to a folder on a shared drive or network location accessible from all workstations. The silent install package should look to the appropriate folder for the install files. For example, use the CD command in a batch file to change the directory to the Outlook Add-In folder on a shared drive, then use the Outlook Add-In silent install command.
You cannot store the Outlook and/or Office Add-In install files in the same directory with install files for other Momentus Enterprise applications such as Back Office or Desktop Runtime. You also cannot store different versions of Enterprise applications in the same directory. It is recommended to create separate folders for each Enterprise application and version used for silent installation.
The silent install statements provided use the following convention:
C:\Windows\System32>msiexec.exe /i "C:\install\Ungerboeck Outlook Add-in.msi" /qn
C:\Windows\System32>msiexec.exe /i "C:\install\Ungerboeck Office Add-ins.msi" /qn
If you want a log file you need to add the switch:
C:\Windows\System32>msiexec.exe /i "C:\install\Ungerboeck Outlook Add-in.msi" /qn /lv “C:\install\log.txt”
C:\Windows\System32>msiexec.exe /i "C:\install\Ungerboeck Office Add-ins.msi" /qn /lv "C:\install\log2.txt"
If the log file does not exist, it is created in the path location.
The above is an example of the silent install from the command prompt. You need to run the command prompt as an administrator. You need to navigate to the C:\windows\system32 folder and use your path to the Enterprise installation location. The above example uses C:\install\file. You can also use a UNC path.
- The .msi file is the install file for the Momentus Add-In you are installing.
- /i is the switch that indicates installation.
- /v”…” passes additional arguments. You must have all subsequent arguments within double quotes (“).
- /qn indicates the installation should have no dialogs and is completely silent. You may choose to substitute the /qb argument to display a dialog box to confirm successful installation.
- If desired, the silent installation can write to a log file using the /lv argument. This file is written to the location specified by the Log_Path.

Hi Kris, we expect this to work with modern versions of Ungerboeck add-ins. That said, if you run into issues with the provided script, we recommend reaching out to your organization's silent install expert for troubleshooting as silent install troubleshooting is outside the Support/Client Care team's scope.
Thanks!
