Seasonal pricing allows you to offer room rate discounts or surcharges for specific dates during the year. Seasonal pricing is often used to encourage space bookings during a slow period. The room rate must meet the following requirements to use seasonal pricing:
- The room rate is tax exclusive.
- The Unit of Time on the room rate is set to Day, Hour or Week.
- The room rate is a class 1 resource.
- The room rate is not part of a package.
To configure seasonal pricing:
- Click the Price Lists link from the Main Menu. The Price Lists screen opens.
- Select the price list for the discount items.
- Right-click and select Tools -> Price List Discounts & Surcharges. The Price List Discounts & Surcharges screen opens.
- Click the Add button. The Add Price List Discount & Surcharge screen opens.
- Select Seasonal from the Record Type drop-down.
- Enter the start date for the seasonal discount/surcharge into the Start Date field.
- Enter the end date for the seasonal discount/surcharge into the End Date field.
- Select the rate to discount/surcharge from the Resource drop-down.
- Enter the percentage of the discount/surcharge into the Percent field. A positive (+) percentage indicates a discount. A negative (-) percentage indicates a surcharge.
- Click OK.
The next time an event is created with a booking within the date range and with the same room rate as the seasonal pricing, the discounted room rate is automatically calculated when the booking is saved.

Hello,
I'm finding that the above discounts (as well as Account-based discounts added to a price list) only apply thru v19 - adding the same spaces and the same discounted rates to an event in v20 doesn't do the math.
Is there anything additional I need to do make this work in v20?
Thanks,
Zak.

The Seasonal Discounts, as well as Account and Price Class Discounts for Price Lists, are not yet functional in v20. They will all be available in v20.7, scheduled for late March 2014.

Why do packages not have seasonal discounts applied? How to have them treated the same?

Hi Jason,
I am afraid season discounts are not supported for packages. I have contacted the Asia-Pacific Client Care team to get in touch with you for some solutions which may fit to your pricing requirements.

THE FEATURE I'M MISSING IS THE FUNCTIONALITY TO HAVE THE SEASONAL RATE APPLYING TO A GIVEN CUSTUMER(ACCOUNT id)
are there any plans to have that as a possiblity too
first check the time frame, than the account ID's for which it should apply to?

Hi Karin,
currently there is no combination of using seasonal discounts and account/price class discounts. I think you would need to send this as an enhancement request to our support team stating the business szenario requiring this process.

One of the requirements (listed above in the article) is that room rates have to be Tax Exclusive (which makes sense)
I'm gueesing there is no way to have the Room Rates remain as Tax Inclusive - and still be selectable for seasonal discounts - but then only discount from the GST ex exclusive component?

Dale - all room rates would need to be configured in the price list as Tax Exclusive. Could you have a seasonal price list where prices are calculated as tax exclusive?
