Changes in Enterprise are tracked on the audit log. These changes are called transactions, and you can use the Audit Log Configuration to set them to being active or inactive.
Included in this article:
- Mandatory Transactions
- Activate the Audit Log for a Transaction
- Make an Audit Log Transaction Inactive
- Add a Recipient List to an Audit Log Transaction
Mandatory Transactions
The following transactions are required and you cannot make them inactive:
- Database Password Changes
- Database Password Change Failures
- Reset Password Emails Sent
- Database Sign In
- Database Sign In Failed
- Database Sign Out
- Organization Parameter Alphanumeric Value Changed
- Organization Parameter Amount Changed
Activate the Audit Log for a Transaction
- Navigate to the Audit Log Configuration page and select the transaction you want to track.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Configuration window opens.
- From the Status drop-down, select Active.
- Click OK. The transaction is now tracked in the audit log.
Make an Audit Log Transaction Inactive
- Navigate to the Audit Log Configuration page and select the transaction you don't want to track.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Configuration window opens.
- From the Status drop down, select Inactive.
- Click OK. The transaction is no longer tracked in the audit log.
Add a Recipient List to an Audit Log Transaction
A recipient list can be assigned to an audit log transaction. If you assign a recipient list to an audit log transaction, the users on the recipient list receive an activity notifying them of the audit log entry. This activity will automatically marked as New.
- Navigate to the Audit Log Configuration page and select the transaction you want a recipient list assigned to.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Configuration window opens.
- From the Recipient List drop-down, select the recipient list required.
- Click OK.

Am I seeing correctly in the Audit Log config that there's no option to track Event Name changes?
Zak.

That's correct, there is not currently an audit log option to specifically track event name changes.

Is there a way we are able to enable auditing on Activities V20? to see when a user changed a due date or when status changed etc?

Hi Kieron,
Currently if the audit log is configured to track diary changes, then if the text of a diary is updated, then an audit log entry is added. However, it doesn't record if a status or due date changes.

How do I configure this in v20? In v20 our audit log only goes to April 21, 2015

Hi R.C.,
The configuration of the audit log entries is still done in v19. You will still use the steps above and click on the Audit Log (v19) menu option and follow the steps above in the article. All audit log entries are still recorded regardless of whether you are working in v19 or v20 so verify your configuration to make sure that all the audit log entries are set up to be created.
Thanks,
Maggie

As of the current version, the audit log does not track changes to user defined fields.

If I add a trace list to the contact revision option in the audit when should the trace be triggered
When the contract is revised - what stage of the process triggers it
or When the contract requires revision
(I have added a test trace list/revisied a booking/ and said yes to a contract revision but the trace has not been raised)
Many thanks
Jo

Hi Jo Dadd - the audit log entry for Contract Revision is generated when a contract actually gets revised by a user - which increments the contract revision field. Thanks.

Thanks for this but is there a parameter or anything similar that would prevent the trace being sent through I have the same trace list attached to the contract status change as the contract revision but only the status change trace is being issued.

Jo - There isn't anything I am aware of that would prevent this. I'd recommend entering a ticket with our client care so they can review. Thanks.

Not sure if I'm missing something, but appears you can't track changes in the Audit Log to either resources or spaces!

There are a lot of gaps in the audit log- though a few have recently been filled so we are heading in the right direction!

This is true Lee. Master Lists seem to have the least tracking - it is focussed more on the transactional side of things as opposed to administration, which for Audit purposes makes things a little tricky.

Agreed Sean, especially as changes to the master tables (resources) directly affect revenues streams!
I'll post an enhancement request ....

Does the Audit Log track Account Name changes?

Hello Eddie,
Yes, the audit log can track name/description changes for accounts/contacts. Make sure the specific audit log transaction of Name/Description Change (CHGNAM) is active. This transaction type falls under the Account (AC) class when configuring the audit log.

There doesn't seem to be any possibility to track changes for EFP/Floor plan - is that something that will be available in the future?

Hello Franziska,
The selected audit log item does not currently support use with a recipient list. Please consider entering an enhancement request as a Product Idea. The steps to submit a Product Idea are outlined below.
