Units of measure are used throughout the software in areas such as service orders, resources and inventory. They are important for calculating item prices (charged per day, per event, per week rate) and also for inventory stock, purchasing and selling conversion, and calculation.
Add a Unit of Measure
- Click the Units of Measure link from the Main Menu. The Units of Measure screen opens.
- Click the Add button. The Add Unit of Measure screen opens.
- Enter the necessary information:
- Description - Name for the unit of measure.
- U/M Base - Unit of measure the conversion factor is based on. For example, if creating a new unit of measure for hour, you would enter minutes (MIN).
- Conversion Factor - Numeric value to convert the unit of measure to the base unit of measure. Using the previous example of hour and minutes, you would enter 60 (60 minutes in 1 hour).
- U/M Class - Type of unit of measure.
- Code - Unique alphanumeric code.
- Click OK.
Change a Unit of Measure
You can change the information for the unit of measure after you have created it. When you change the description, U/M Base or U/M Class for a unit of measure, it updates wherever the unit of measure is used. When you change the Conversion Factor, existing orders and inventory transactions are not updated; only new orders and inventory transactions use the new Conversion Factor. If you don't want to update the already existing unit of measure data, then you must add a new unit of measure using the steps in Add a Unit of Measure.
- Click the Units of Measure link from the Main Menu. The Units of Measure screen opens.
- Select the unit of measure to edit.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Unit of Measure screen opens.
- Update the information.
- Click OK.
Delete a Unit of Measure
If you no longer use a unit of measure and don't want to keep a record of it, you can delete it. You can only delete units of measure that are not used. You cannot undo the delete process.
- Click the Units of Measure link from the Main Menu. The Units of Measure screen opens.
- Right-click on the unit of measure to delete.
- Select Mark for Delete.
- Click the Save button.
