EZWriter reporting is conformed by three main parts:
- Data Source
- Data Format
- Client artifact (iEBMS page, Word Document or Dashboard)
A Data Source is represented by a SQL query statement that gets executed when the Data Source gets called. This SQL statement will retrieve the data from the database an make it available in Momentus Enterprise. The data from the Data Source can only be consumed by an EZWiter Data Format.
When creating a new Data Source, there are three different sections that accept SQL statements (Header, Detail and Summary). These sections match the organization of a Data Format and the fields made available from the Data Source will only be available on its corresponding section on the Data Format window, this is, if we create a SQL statement on the "Header" section of the Data Source, the fields will only be available on the "Header" section of the Data Format that makes reference to the Data Source.
A Data Source receives parameters from the system based on the context from where the report is called, also, some custom parameters can be created which will result on a message prompt in the system requesting an entry for the required values.
