If you or other users are encountering unexpected results from your Word Merge Templates while using EZWriter Data Formats, there are a few quick troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the more common issues.
An attempt to generate a Word Template that uses an Active Parameter not supported by the screen where the user is attempting to create it will frequently generate an error message. Document folders will pass the same parameters as the report list linked to the screen. For example, a report that needs the @ORDER parameter will generate properly if added to the Event folder as the Event Reports list does not pass @ORDER.
Another possibility is invalid HTML in a Data Format. If your Data Source is using an HTML value from a tables such as notes, be sure that the HTML being retrieved will be formatted correctly inside of the HTML of the Data Format. For example, if the user created a note using the Microsoft Word HTML editor, then pasted that note into Enterprise, it may include invalid HTML tags. To avoid this, it is recommended that all notes created in Word be pasted into Notepad before they are pasted into Enterprise. This will remove any Microsoft Office HTML tags.
