If you created an EZWriter webpage that will be used for internal use, you can add the URL for the webpage as a field within the Momentus Enterprise application so users can easily access the report/webpage using the steps below.
- Copy the URL for the EZWriter webpage then navigate to the v20 main menu and search for "Custom Reports and Links".
- Open the Custom Reports and Links page
- Click the Add button to create a new link
- Enter an appropriate Description for the link
- Set Display to Main Menu if the link will appear on the main menu (meaning no parameters are passed to the EZWriter page). Or set the Display to In Subject if the link should appear on a specific window (meaning parameters are passed to the EZWriter page).
- If Display is set to Subject, then select the module the EZWriter page should apply to
- Set the Execution Mode to URL
- Paste the EZWriter URL that was copied into the Command area. If there are parameters that should be passed to the URL, place your cursor in the section where the parameter should appear then click the Insert Field Icon and select the desired field that should be passed to that parameter.
- In the Advanced section select the appropriate access type then click OK.
- Now that the custom link has been created, this link can be added as a field in the Edit Layout window. Navigate to the window where this EZWriter link should appear and click Edit Layout.
- In the Edit Layout window select Add Field --> Add Action or Link Field
- Enter the desired Label for the EZWriter link
- In the Link drop-down search for the link that was just created above in the Custom Reports and Links window.
- In the Advanced section select the appropriate access type then click OK.
- The link is now listed in the Available Fields section on the left side of the Edit Layout window. Locate the field then drag and drop it onto the appropriate Layout section on the right.
- Click OK to close the Edit Layout window

Can we add a EZ writer data source to an action button on the dashboard

Hello Kris,
You can add a link to an EZ Writer page. To do this you will want to create the EZ Writer page, create a custom link using Custom Report and Links, and then add an action button gadget to the main menu, selecting the custom link that you just created.
For more information on how to create a custom link, please see this article: https://supportcenter.ungerboeck.com/hc/en-us/articles/204556068. For more information on how to add ac action button to the main menu, please see this article: https://supportcenter.ungerboeck.com/hc/en-us/articles/204554918.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Andrew
How about choosing a document with an ez tag from within your template area i.e. event template document and have this on an action button.

Hello Kris,
Yes, you can display a merge template in the dashboard. However, there will need to be custom SQL that pulls the information from the database. This is because there is no way of passing a unique identifier being an organization code, event id, etc. into the widget itself.
With the being said, to do this you will want to create your EZWriter Data Source that doesn't use any data source parameters, create the merge template, and the add it to the dashboard. When adding it to the dashboard, you will want to use the EZ Writer gadget type and then in the format template field select the name of merge template you created.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Also how can I get the data source to an action button?
I know I can display merge data in the dashboard however I wanted this to come from an action button (if possible)
Thanks

Hello Kris,
No, there is no way to have the merge data come from an action button. Action buttons are just used as links to other windows within the software and external sites.

Hi
Is it still the case that you can't have an action button to open an ez writer data source?
Thanks

Hi Kris - If you were to connect the EZWriter data source to an iEBMS WRI page (which results in having a URL for accessing the page), then you could create an action button that points to that URL and opens the webpage.
This is currently the only way to connect EZWriter to an action button.
