Registrant Custom Fields vs. Order Custom Fields

    Once you have set up the Custom field, how do you make it show on the registration page?

    Hi Jessica,

    First you will select the list in the registration template of your event in "More settings":

    Then you will have access to the Order Custom fields in the Form Template of the event:

    I have added a 'bucket' of questions and assigned it to the Order Custom Fields in the registration set up of my event. It is not showing up upon registration.

    Did you assign them at the registrant type level or the function level? by moving them from the available list on the left over to the selected list on the right?

    Registration Custom field sets are created under Registration Custom Field Sets from the main menu, but how do you create Order Custom Fields? Same place? I see under MORE SETTINGS the dropdown for the order custom fields are the same options for the Registration custom field sets so I selected one to test with, but unable to see where to assign the Order Custom fields in the Form Template of the event?

    Hi Lori,

    You can add your order custom fields to the Form Templates by going to a Form Group, clicking the Add button and selecting Add Order Custom Fields. This will allow you to add a section to the form for the user fields and to select which user fields will display.

    I found the only way this works for me is if I add the Order Custom Field just above the Payments Group with no page break. Otherwise the Order Custom field will display each time I add a new registrant to the order, which defeats the purpose of displaying the Order Custom field just once for the order.

    Lori,

    You are correct. Order custom fields display for each registrant, but only need to be input once. By putting it directly above the payment section can reduce confusion, but it will still display with each registrant.

    It sounds like Order custom fields can be  asked of all registrants once. Does that mean this field will be written over when a second registrant enters their information? 

    Would it be better to use Registant Custom fields for a question that might have different responses by each registrant (but the same question is being asked). When we used an Order Note field it was written over that is why I am asking about setting up other Order custom fields.

    Please advise.

    If you wish to gather this information for each individual registrant they the registrant custom field would be the best location.
