You can use the Clear Credit Card Information utility to completely remove all credit card information or remove credit card information for transactions before a particular date. Only users assigned to the EBMS Administrators role can run the utility.
- Click the Clear Credit Card Information link from the Main Menu. The Clear Credit Card Information screen opens.
- Select your desired process:
- Remove all credit card information - Completely removes all credit card information. After the process completes, credit card information will no longer be stored. This removes all encrypted credit card information data including expiration date, credit card number and authorization ID. No further encrypted credit card information is stored in the database.
- Remove credit card information by date - Removes credit card information that is not involved in a transaction after the date entered into the Transaction Date field. Credit card information involved in transactions after the date specified is retained, and credit card information continues to store after the process completes. This removes all encrypted credit card information data including expiration date, credit card number and authorization ID for transactions prior to the entered Transaction Date.
- Remove credit card information but retain card number - Removes all credit card information but retains credit card numbers in a masked format. The credit card number will be stored in a masked format after the process completes. This process remove the full encrypted credit card and expiration date but maintains the masked credit card (i.e. 12xxxxxxxxx2345) and the authorization ID.
- Click OK.

Is it possible to get an updated article on the current versions of the clear credit card utility? We would like to have in depth details on what each option does, including what tables are updated so we can confirm the utility has run and provide this information to our auditors and internal departments.

Hi Rebecca,
You may have to do this yourself. If you run a SQL trace/log while running the process on your test system you can intercept the tables and actions taking place.

Thanks for the recommendation Sean.

How does this impact existing transactions that might potentially be refunded? Can a refund still be processed if the credit card information is cleared completely?
