GL Sources are pre-defined for various GL transactions (Event Management, Membership, etc.), but you can also add GL sources to differentiate manual journal entries. This is often used when you want to review the GL by a single source. For example, you can create a GL source for imported payroll entries so you can analyze all payroll transactions independent of all GL sources. There is no limit to the number of GL sources you can create.
Add a GL Source
- Click the GL Sources link from the Main Menu. The GL Sources screen opens.
- Click the Add button. The Add GL Source screen opens.
- Enter the necessary information:
- Source - Unique alphanumeric code for the source.
- Description - Name of the source.
- Last JE # - Last journal entry number used for the source.
- Status - If checked, the GL source is available for journal entries.
- Click OK.
Change a GL Source
You can change the information for a GL source after you have created it. When you change the information for a GL source, it updates where it is used. If you don't want to update the already existing GL source data, then you must add a new GL source using the steps in Add a GL Source.
- Click the GL Sources link from the Main Menu. The GL Sources screen opens.
- Select the GL source to edit.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit GL Source screen opens.
- Make the desired change.
- Click OK.
Inactivate a GL Source
If you no longer use a GL source but want to keep record of it for reporting or other purposes, you can make it inactive. When you make a GL source inactive, it is no longer available for selection for journal entries.
- Click the GL Sources link from the Main Menu. The GL Sources screen opens.
- Select the GL source to make inactive.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit GL Source screen opens.
- Uncheck the Status check box.
- Click OK.
Delete a GL Source
If you no longer use a GL source and don't want to keep a record of it, you can delete it. You cannot undo the delete process.
- Click the GL Sources link from the Main Menu. The GL Sources screen opens.
- Right-click on the GL source to delete.
- Select Mark for Delete.
- Click the Save button.

Hi,
Is this able to be done on the Flex Edition of Ungerboeck? Currently running 20.90C and don't have the option to access GL Sources.

Hi Don,
In the Flex edition, GL Sources would be configured by Ungerboeck for you with the GL Export upgrade option.
