You can do budgeting at the GL account level, also called non-event budgeting. You can manage GL account budgeting manually or use a GL Budget Import. Using the GL Budget Import when loading the entire annual budget is recommended. Manual changes can be made when adjusting selected budgets.
Before you can budget for a GL account, you must have budget codes set up and assigned to the GL accounts you are budgeting.
If you choose not to import your budgets, you can set up the budget for a GL account manually:
- Click the GL Inquiry link from the Main Menu. The General Ledger Inquiry screen opens.
- Select the GL account for budgeting.
- Right-click and select Tools -> Account Budgeting. The Budgeting screen opens.
- Select the budget to edit from the Currently Editing drop-down.
- Expand the Account Budgeting section.
- Enter the budget value:
- For the appropriate fiscal period into the PTD BUD column and proceed to step 7.
- for the entire year into the total (bolded) row. When you save, the budget amount is allocated straight line across the periods. Proceed to step 8.
- Continue entering budget values for each fiscal period. You can select a cell and select Copy Cell(s) and then select one or more new cells and select Paste Cell(s) to copy and paste values into one or more cells more quickly.
- Click OK.
You also have the option to budget not only currency but also units. This is often used by exhibitions to budget exhibition space rental in square meters/feet or the number of stands/booths sold.
To enter the budget for an another GL account, click the Previous Account or Next Account buttons at the top of the Budgeting screen.

In V30 Is there going to be a way to bring up multiple GL accounts and do account budgeting like there was in V19?
Doing them one by one is a bit cumbersome

Hi Kieron,
Do you mean the Previous Account and Next Account buttons? If so, those have been added but I'm working on confirming which version they are available in (.97 or a .96 service release).
Thanks,
Maggie

In v30 is there a way to enter an annual budget amount and have the system automatically enter 1/12th of that amount in each monthly budget period? I believe I was able to do this previously in v19.
Thank you!

Hi Gregory -
Yes, if you are using v30 in .96, the account budgeting window has a total row at the bottom that can be entered as the annual amount of the entry. This will then allocate the budget amount straight line across the periods.
Thanks!
