Making an account inactive does not automatically make the contacts for the account inactive To make the contacts inactive:
- Click the Contacts link for the appropriate designation. For example, Contacts - Registration for registration accounts. In this example, we use Contacts - Event Sales but you can follow the same process for accounts and contacts in all designations. The Contacts screen opens.
- Sort and group the screen by Company.
- Right-click on the Column headers and select Show Columns. The Column Settings screen opens.
- Select the Select Columns tab.
- Confirm the Company column is in the Selected section. If it is not, move it from the Available section to the Selected section.
- Select the Sort, Group and Total tab.
- Select Company from the Column Name drop-down in the first Sort By drop-down.
- Check the Group on this column check box.
- Click OK.
- Locate the Company that is inactive.
- Select all the contacts assigned to the company. Use Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click to select multiple contacts.
- Right-click and select Edit Multiple Contacts.
- Check the check box next to Designation Status.
- Select Inactive from the drop-down.
- Click OK.

A contact status shows as "inactive". This is inaccurate but it is "greyed out" and I cannot edit.
On another note...
How can information be copied into contact info? ie. copy a phone # from an email and paste it into a contact in ungerboeck.

David, if the account as been inactivated and you follow the above instructions you should be allowed to edit multiple contacts. On the Edit Multiple screen check the Designation Status box and search the dropdown for Inactive. This may appear grey but it is the status color like prospective status is red. If you are still having a problem, please enter a case on the help desk and someone will work further with you.
In regards to pasting information into contacts phone #, you can use the standard Control key and C to copy and then Control Key V to paste into Ungerboeck phone number field. You may get a popup that asks if it is ok to copy, answer yes or ok and you should be good to go.

why doesn't the contact be made inactive if the account has, the contact does go to an italic style font so what does this mean?

Hello Kris, The system is designed to keep the contact active because sometimes contacts are associated as the bill to or a registrant account and therefore would still need to be active in the system.

If a person is a contact on multiple accounts, and we want to remove them from all of the accounts, do we have to remove them from each individual account, or is there a way to remove them from all of the accounts at once?

R.C.,
If you inactivate the Contact under Account Status, it will inactivate the Contact for all Accounts it's related to, and the Contact itself will be inactive. However, if you want to keep the Contact active you will have to inactivate the relationship for each Account individually.
If you inactivate the Contact and then reactivate it, it will only be reactivated for the original organization it was linked to.
Hope that helps,
Carrie
