Improving Performance When Using a SQL Command Data Source

When using SQL Commands for a data source, always supply default values to the command parameters. These are used when the Crystal Engine (and Momentus Enterprise) loads the report and verifies the database.

For example, if there is an Invoice parameter while querying the Orders table and a parameter is not supplied, Crystal will use the default of zero and query every order that has not been invoiced. This can result in a report taking a much as 25 minutes to load. However, if you sett a default value to -1 or an actual invoice, then the report can load in less than 2 seconds.
