The Probable Amount field uses a combination of the potential revenue field and the probability of win field on a sales opportunity to determine the potential revenue for an opportunity. This allows you to create views and dashboard gadgets for the probable revenue for future business.
To use the Probable Amount field, make sure the Probability of Win is configured. You also need to enter a value into the Revenue field and select a value from the Win % field for your sales opportunities.
Once those values are entered for an opportunity, you can show the Probable Amount column on the Opportunities screen. This displays the calculated projected amount for the opportunity. For example, if revenue is $10,000 and the probability of win is set to 50%, the Probably Amount column displays $5000.
