The Working Directory is a location on a user's local machine where documents are temporarily stored after they are opened within the software. Because Momentus works in tandem with Microsoft Office, instead of incorporating Microsoft Office into the software, the document needs a temporary storage location for the PC application or program to open the document for modification or creation.
You can set the default Working Directory for a user in the Working Directory field on the Edit User screen. The location specified in the Working Directory field is accessed from the local machine, not the server. For example, your users are set up to access a folder on the N drive as their Working Directory. This drive is mapped on the server as N. However, it's mapped on the client machine as a different drive. The users are not able to access the folder because it's using the location on the user's machine. If your organization has non-standard mapped drives, and you want all your users to share a location for their Working Directories, it is recommended to use a UNC path to the shared location.
If you leave the Working Directory field blank, the Working Directory defaults to C:\USLP900, a folder automatically created the first time a user opens a document in the software.
To configure the Working Directory for a user:
- Click the Users link from the Main Menu. The Users screen opens.
- Select the user who needs the working directory configured or edited.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit User screen opens.
- Select the User Preferences & Defaults tab.
- Enter the file path to the location on the user's computer to temporarily store documents into the Working Directory field.
- Click OK.
