Display Chinese Characters with a Unicode Database

To display Chinese characters with a Chinese Unicode database, you need to set the organization parameter values as below:

1.  Click the System Parameters link from the Main Menu. The System Parameters screen opens.

2.  Locate parameter AA (application) 300 (code).

3.  Enter Y into the Alphanumeric Value field.

4.  Click OK.

5.  Click the Organization Master link from the Main Menu. The Organization Master screen opens.

6.  Select the organization which needs to be updated.

7.  Click the Parameters button. The Organization Parameters screen opens.

8.  Locate organization parameter AA (application) 140 (code).

9.  Enter 2 into the Alphanumeric Value field.

10.  Repeat steps 4 and 5 for organization parameter AA 141 and AA 145.

11.  Click OK.

    What is a unicode database? We are currently using English as the default language. Is it possible to enter Chinese characters?

    If you are familiar with SQL and have your Ungerboeck database on prem? Have a look at the data type of a column like EV870_NAME. If it's VARCHAR you DO NOT have a unicode database. If it's NVARCHAR, you DO have a unicode database.
