Sometimes, users see timeout errors within Momentus Enterprise. Often these timeouts have to do more with internet connectivity than an issue in the software. One of the first troubleshooting steps we recommend is a continuous ping. This quick step already built into any Windows version can tell you if you need to contact Momentus for additional support or your internet provider. The below uses google.com for testing purposes but if you are outside the US, use your country's equivalent Google site i.e. google.ca or google.mx.
- Type in CMD into your computer Start menu.
- Select Command Prompt. A command prompt opens.
- Enter the following: ping google.com -t
- Press Enter. The command prompt pings google.com until you cancel the action. Usually one minute is enough for diagnostic purposes.
- Press Ctrl+c to cancel the ping.
There is a long string of Reply from (IP Address), bytes, time, and TTL. If there is a lot of variance in your time column, you could have an issue with your internet connectivity. If this is the case, contact your internet service provider. If there is not a lot of variance in in the time column, call Momentus Support Services to troubleshoot further.
