An inline note is a custom note field you can add to pages or windows so you can enter and/or view a note directly on a page or window without having to access the Notes tab or open the Add/Edit Note window.
For example, you can configure an inline note on the Add Event window that allows your users to enter a general description of the event. This allows you to build the note into the Add Event process and saves the step of having to add the note after entering the new event.
To add an inline note field:
- Navigate to the desired page (Accounts, Events, Service Orders, and so on) where the note is needed.
- Select one record listed on the page (for example, a specific account). Right-click and select Edit. The Edit window opens.
- On the Edit window, click Edit Layout. The Edit Layout window opens.
- In the Available Fields section, click the dropdown next to the Add Field button.
- Select Add Note Field. The Add Note Custom Field window opens.
- Enter the following information:
- Label: Name for the note. This label displays on the window.
- Subject: Defaults to the subject of the window you are on. You cannot change this when adding a field directly to a window.
- Note Class: Note class to assign to the note when it is added.
- Control Type: Select the HTML editor, which allows for text formatting, or Plain Text.
- Expand the Advanced section.
- Select the Access Type for the note.
- Only One User: Only the selected user in the drop-down can view the add note field.
- Everyone: All users assigned to the theme can view the add note field.
- Users and Roles: Only the selected users and/or roles can view the add note field.
- Click OK. You return to the Edit Layout window.
- Use the Search For field to locate the new custom field. The label you entered in step 5 is the name of the field.
- Click and drag the field to the right side of the window.
- Place the field in the desired location. The field can be added anywhere in the window.
- Click OK. The Add Note field displays on the window.

:( Do you know if there is any plans to add this? It would be a perfect place for this feature.
