First, why not check out our introduction to Sub-Tasks? Tasks can be broken down into Sub-Tasks, which are the component pieces of work that make up a Task. For the parent Task to be deemed complete, all of the Sub-Tasks must have been completed.
There are two places to go to create a Sub-Task. You can click on the 'Add' button in the top right-hand corner of the page, and click 'Add Sub-Task'; or you can click 'Add Sub-Task' in the Sub-Tasks tab of any Task Details Page.
Both options take you to the 'Add New Sub-Task' modal, where you can input the details for your Sub-Task.
The parent task and the project and task group in which its sits will be pre-selected if you are adding it directly from a Task Details Page. You then put in the following information:
-
Sub-Task Title: make sure this is distinguishable from other sub-tasks;
-
RAG Status: if you need give the sub-task a RAG status that isn't 'Grey', you can do so upon creation;
-
Start and Due Date: select the dates for the sub-task to start and end;
-
Owner(s) and Department(s): assign as many action owners or departments to the sub-task as necessary, and click the shortcuts to add yourself or your department.
If there is then further information which you need to input, you can click 'Show More', to bring up the following options:
-
Event: if applicable, associate the sub-task to the event which you are working on;
-
Priority: here, you can assign a priority of Low, Medium or High to your sub-task;
-
Completion: here, you can select a percentage complete, in 5% increments up to 100%;
-
Description: here you can type a formattable description for the sub-task;
-
Tags: here you can select any tags that apply to the sub-task. These are all set up in the Tag Manager section of the Settings area.
Then, simply Save and Close to create the Sub-Task. You can also use the Keyboard Shortcuts or the downward-facing arrow to have the option of Saving the Sub-Task and going straight to its Details Page, or Saving the Sub-Task and adding another straightaway.
