You can restore cancelled events in the database. When restoring an event:
- Cancelled bookings for the event remain cancelled. Once you restore the event, edit the event and change the booking status to an active status. This performs the conflict checking process.
- Closed registration orders or service orders remain closed.
- Cancelled service orders are set to the order status selected during the Restore Event process.
- Cancelled registration orders remain cancelled and must be manually changed to an active order status.
- The restore process does not check personnel assignment conflicts. This is a manual process performed after restoring the event.
To restore an event:
- Click the Cancelled and Archived Events link from the Main Menu. The Cancelled and Archived Events page opens.
- Select the event to restore.
- Right-click and select Tools -> Restore Event. The Restore Event window opens.
- Select the necessary information:
- Event Status – Status for the restored event.
- Function Status – Status for the restored functions.
- Order Status – Status for the restored cancelled service orders.
- Retained Cancellation Date/User - If checked, the original cancellation date and cancellation user information is retained for the event and bookings. If the restored event is re-cancelled, the original cancellation date and user information is also retained.
- Click OK.
Restore Event Security
The Allow Reinstating Cancelled Events access privilege controls the ability to restore events. The ability to restore events is allowed only by users and/or roles assigned to this access privilege. Users and/or roles assigned to the privilege are allowed to restore events. Any users not assigned to the privilege are not able to restore events. If no users are assigned to the privilege, it is considered inactive and all users can restore events.

Hi
Can you restore a cancelled event via the account in V20 like you can in V19.
Thanks

Hi Kris
Thank you for your question.
I have done some further investigation into this and can confirm that it is not currently possible to do this in v20.
It is currently recommended that you go to your Main Menu and search for 'Purge Events (v19)' to restore a cancelled event.
Once this window has moved into v20, this option should be available.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Craig

Hi,
Any ideas when this will be put into v20? We are currently looking at moving our departments to v20 in January and this is one of the only features not in v20 that we use.
Thanks

I concur that this is toward the top of our list. One of the few features our sales team still have to bridge back for.

Hello,
We upgraded to 20.9J P22 last week. However, "Purge Events" is sill unavailable. Is the feature still not written in v20.9 yet?

Hi
I have also upgraded the test environment to 20.9L X2 and still bridges back to V19 for purge events.
Thanks

Looks like the article needs an update for v20.9
I figured out that you can reinstate a cancelled event via "Restore Events" that can be accessed through "Cancelled and Archived Events" link from Main Menu. And not via "Purge Events"..

If you show Cancelled Events on your Calendar and/or in the Events list, you can also find the Restore Event action under Tools on the Edit Event window or reading pane so you don't need to go to the Main Menu option.

Our sales team needs access to reinstate events. I tried giving access to "Allow Reinstating Cancelled Events" to their role, but it didn't work. I can I provide this access to their role?

Are you receiving an error or struggling to find the option?
Are you using v19 or v20?

I am using v20.9. I am not having a problem using it, myself. I am having a problem providing access to it for the sales team. I assigned "Allow Reinstating Cancelled Events" to their role, but they still can't see "Cancelled and Archived Events" on their main menu, and they don't have "Restore Event" in the Tools drop-down on the Edit Event window. I'm not going to add them to the Admin Role so they can use it; I'm hoping for a better way.

This is where things can sometimes get a bit confusing.
In v19 you had access privileges stacked with menus (i.e. if you had the menu option you could access a screen, then an access privilege would help to determine what you can/can't do on that screen).
In v20 you now stack the access privileges with features and/or access exceptions.
In this instance, I would suggest you add the following actions to the Sales role (under access exceptions);
-"Cancelled and Archived Events" (5007)
-"Restore Event" (4895)
Both of these actions fit in the "Event Management and Coordination- Administration" feature, but I imagine you don't want to give access to the entire feature to Sales.
Hope that helps.

I am trying to restore and event and I get and error saying
"The selected order cannot be reinstated because the order is a co-exhibitor order and its main exhibitor order is cancelled"
I can't restore the event because of the order, but I can't change the order if the event is cancelled. Not sure how to get out of this pickle. Please help!

Hi Deidre, This sounds like you have some data the system is not recognizing correctly. Please reach out to support and they will help you get this resolved.

When restoring an event in v30.98 and selecting to keep the cancellation date/user, where on the restored event does this information appear?

Hi,
You can view it in the Cancelled By and Cancelled On fields. These fields are available as columns on the Events screen and as fields on the Add/Edit Event screen.
Thanks,
Maggie

Hi Maggie,
Thank you. I was seeing those fields on the "Cancel Event" screen, but not on the Edit Event screen. I see that they are columns on the Events screen now.
