Editing Document Classes
- Click the Document Classes link from the Main Menu. The Document Classes screen opens.
- Select the document class to edit.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Document Classes screen opens.
- Update the desired information:
- Description – Name of the document class.
- Status - Determines if the document class is active and available in Ungerboeck. Inactive document classes are unavailable for selection when adding and importing documents.
- Prefix – The entered value is appended to the beginning of the Document ID.
- Shell – Shell document associated with the document class.
- Click OK.
Shell Documents
You need shell documents for document version control. When you create a document, Ungerboeck copies the shell document to create the new document. Shell documents are needed for the following document classes: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Ungerboeck Spreadsheet, Visio, HTML, Meeting Matrix Room Layout, Meeting Matrix Room Setup, Page Maker, XML and EFP.
When adding a shell document to a document class, you need to save a document with the file extension of the document class locally as USIShell(DOCTYPE)Document where DOCTYPE is the document type, for example a shell document for Word is named USIShellWordDocument. To assign a shell document to a document class:
- Click the Document Classes link from the Main Menu. The Document Classes screen opens.
- Select the document class that needs the shell document.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Document Classes screen opens.
- Click the ellipses button (...) next to the Shell Document field. The File Explorer screen opens.
- Select the USIShell(DOCTYPE)Document.
- Click OK.
Manage Document Extensions
Document extensions are the valid file extensions for the document class. For example, valid document extensions for Microsoft Word are DOC and DOCX. You cannot add or import a file that does not have a valid file extension for the document class.
You can set the default file extension for a document class by checking the Default check box for the extension. The default file extension is used whenever a document is added for a document class.
Since you cannot add new document classes, document extensions are often used to allow for additional file types. For example, you can use the Video document class to add the valid file extensions for videos you want to import into Ungerboeck. The following file extensions are allowed:
3gp
AI
avi
bmp
csv
doc
docx
dwg
eml
eps
flv
gif
htm
html

mkv

Driving Mapping and Document Paths
If you use document management and imported all your documents into the database, then you do not need document paths and drive mapping.
If you do not use document management, document paths store the documents you are working on. To assign a path to a document class or change an existing document path, right-click on the document class you want to update and select Change Drive Mapping. Only a system administrator can perform this process.

I have just updated to 20.9H
In release notes it states that you can now import Zip and EPS file but there is no document class for this. It used to be possible to add classes but I now get message that this is permitted for USI only.
How do I set up to import ZIP and EPS?

Hi Theresa!
You actually don’t add them as document classes. You use the Import Doc action and it lets you pick them and pull them in.
Hope that helps!

Ah, my apologies. I'm not seeing that behavior! Would you please submit a ticket as that is not expected behavior.
Thank you!

If you can't upload files greater than 10Mb can you at least display the file in Ungerboeck as a shortcut but the file be held on a separate server using the document path? We have lots of drawings that can't be uploaded because of the file restriction but I would like to at least reference them in the documents tab as a shortcut.

Is there a reason you can't increase the file limit for the document category assigned to the class?

Was there ever a resolution to have EPS set up as a document class?

Hi Ashley,
It has not been added as a default document class but you can edit an existing image class and add EPS as the default class so you can bring them in.
Thanks,
Maggie
