Document Templates can be used to create or import pre-formatted and pre-written documents for use throughout Momentus Enterprise. Where you can use templates depends on where the template was created. You can create templates in the following pages:
- Account Template Documents
- Event Analysis Template Documents
- Event Template Documents
- Financial Template Documents
- Job Template Documents
- Tax Report Template Documents
If the document will have wildcards and be attached to an email, you must use Email and Merge Templates. See Email Templates for more information.
To add a document template:
- Navigate to the appropriate Template Documents page (Account, Event, Job, and so on) for the template. The Template Documents page opens.
- Click Add. The Add Template Document window opens.
- Enter the necessary information:
- Description: Name of the template document.
- Type: Type of template document you are adding, such as Excel or Word.
- Active: Only active template documents are available for selection when adding a template.
- Word Merge: If checked, merge tags and/or wildcards are available in the template. Only available for Word documents.
- Convert to PDF: If checked, the template is converted to a PDF when added. Only available for Word documents. EZWriter template tags are not replaced when converted to a PDF.
- Select the Details tab.
- Enter the necessary information:
- Heading: Document heading and subheading for the template for organization purposes.
- Category: Category for the template.
- Sort: Order the template displays (01 for first, 02 for second, and so on).
- Sensitivity: Who is able to view and/or edit the template.
- Select the Access tab.
- Select who can access the template:
- Only Me: Only you can view and edit the template.
- Everyone: All users can view and edit the template.
- Users and Roles: Only selected users and users assigned to the selected roles in the drop-down can view and edit the template.
- Click OK. The applicable document program opens. For example, if Word is selected, Microsoft Word opens.
- Enter the document information. To add wildcards to the template:
- Select the Ungerboeck tab in the Microsoft Word ribbon. You must have the Microsoft Office Add-In installed to see the Ungerboeck tab.
- Click Select Template Wildcards. The Select Template Wildcard window opens.
- Change the Source drop-down to the area in the system where the document is used (for example contracts, events, accounts). The list populates with available wildcards.
- Double-click on a wildcard from the list to insert it into the document or you can click on the wildcard and drag it on to the document. Use the search field to locate wildcards. When a wildcard is inserted, it is surrounded on either side by an asterisk, such as *Name*.
- Click Save in the document program.
- Close the document program. The document is available in the Template Folder for future use.

Is there a way you can format the wildcard fields as was the case in V19. I have a template used for contracts but dates are all short - I believe in contracts most companies use a long format date. There appears to be a format field in the wildcard window but this cannot be changed

Theresa,
You have to create a custom formula field with the date formatting.
Thanks!

Hi Carrie,
Is there any plans to enhance this? I too have wanted flexibility over the formatting of fields for the template wildcards. Crating formula fields just to handle formatting seems like overkill and makes the column selection list a little messy and cluttered. V19 does have this ability so it would be great for v20 to support it too.
Thanks.

Sean,
Per Product Management we are looking at two possibilities but nothing is scheduled at this time.
Option 1 is to provide more flexibility around where custom fields show up. It would allow you to show the custom field in a grid, reading pane, or as a wildcard.
Option 2 is to allow setting formatting inside the template document.
