When a resource is no longer needed you can delete it or inactivate it. Inactivating a resource will retain historical data of orders and price list items associated with the resource.
Delete a Resource
A resource can be deleted if it is not:
- Used on an order
- Assigned to a price list
If the resource is used on an order, then the resource must be made inactive rather than deleted. If the resource is on any price lists (active or retired), it must be removed from the price lists before being deleted.
To delete a resource:
- Navigate to the Resources page and select the resource to delete.
- Right-click and select Mark for Delete.
- Click the Save at the bottom of the page.
Inactivate a Resource
When a resource is no longer needed but exists on orders or price lists, change the resource status to Inactive to prohibit it from being added to future price lists and orders. Inactivating a resource can also inactivate all price list items on existing price lists tied to the resource, if needed. Inactivating a resource and price list items does not affect existing orders containing the item.
To inactivate a resource:
- Navigate to the Resources page and select the resource to inactivate.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Resource window opens.
- Click the Additional Information tab.
- Locate the Status field and select Inactive from the dropdown.
- Click OK.
- If the resource is connected to active price list items on any price lists, a prompt will display asking to de-activate all of the price list items tied to the resource.
- Click Yes to inactivate the resource and all associated price list items on existing price lists.
- Click No to inactivate the resource, only, and leave existing price list items as active.

Asha - no, inactivating a resource does not affect the item at all on any existing orders.
