It is important to have an up-to-date test environment that mirrors your production database. A database refresh ensures your testing environment accurately reflects your live data, which will provide a realistic backdrop for your testing activities. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how the database refresh process works.
- Step 1: Request a Database Refresh
- Step 2: Validation and Processing by Support Team
- Step 3: Patch the Environment
- Step 4: Completion and Notification
Step 1: Request a Database Refresh
To initiate a database refresh, follow these steps:
- Log in to the Support Center.
- In the top right corner, select Submit a Request > Submit a New Request > Database Update Request > Copy Production to Test.
- Complete the form with the necessary details about your request.
- Submit the form.
Step 2: Validation and Processing by Support Team
Upon receiving your request, our support team will:
- Validate the request to ensure all necessary information is provided and meets the criteria for a refresh.
- Schedule and process the refresh.
Data Handling During the Refresh
During the refresh process, certain items are preserved to ensure continuity and functionality in your testing environment, specifically:
- Credit card processing data: your Test credit card processing settings, which include environment-specific settings and system preferences.
- User settings, including SSO Configuration: User accounts and permissions to ensure that test users retain access post-refresh.
- System identification settings: Including application color schemes, integration settings, and Report Server URL.
These items are stored temporarily and reintegrated into the test environment after the refresh is complete.
Step 3: Patch the Environment
After the database refresh, we will:
- Patch the environment to the latest release of the current version. This ensures your test environment includes all recent updates, bug fixes, and improvements.
- Verify the refresh and patching processes have been successfully completed without issues.
Step 4: Completion and Notification
Finally, our support team will:
- Review the refreshed environment to ensure it is functioning correctly.
- Contact you once the refresh is complete. You will receive a notification confirming your test environment is ready for use.
