After you have an AutoCAD drawing set up with your building xrefs and your booths, you may want to add some extra details. You can do this but you need to make sure to do it correctly to avoid any problems when importing the floor plan into the software.
Avoid using symbols that are pictures or blocks.
Pictures and blocks are complicated objects in AutoCAD and most of them do not import correctly into Exhibitor Floor Plan. You can sometimes explode blocks in AutoCAD and then reform them into polylines and hatches. If your symbols are pictures, you may want to try tracing them with polylines.
Create symbols using the polyline tool.
Polylines are the easiest way to ensure that your symbols import. You can also use lines but remember that every object you import is stored in the drawing. If a symbol is made up of 100 lines, that is 100 objects stored for each instance of the symbol. If this symbol is used a dozen or more times, this number adds up very fast. You can join those lines into a single polyline and they do not slow down your drawing as much.
Place them on unique layers.
Symbols look great but can sometimes detract from the message you are trying to send to an exhibitor. If you place the symbols on a unique layer (restroom, food, stairs, symbols, columns, etc) in Exhibition Floor Plan, then you can easily turn them on and off depending on your needs.
Give them color.
Exhibition Floor Plan supports any color that you can select for your lines. It also supports any solid pattern hatches that you can add to your drawings as well. Hatches are an easy way to make a symbol stand out. Exhibition Floor Plan does not support hatches other than the solid pattern so avoid complex patterns.
Use Momentus supplied symbols as a reference.
Momentus updates AutoCAD drawings with several types of commonly used symbols for your convenience, including outline, background fill color, meeting room fills, and accessibility symbols. Additional updates can be provided on request. For these updates, please reach out to your primary Momentus contact. For quick turnaround, submit a "DWG Conversion Request" ticket in the Support Center.
