The GL Inquiry is one of the major General Accounting & Analysis screens. The GL Inquiry screen is available from the Main Menu. You can use it for financial statement ad-hoc reporting and to drill-down to view additional GL account details.
GL Inquiry Reporting
You can create different views in the GL Inquiry screen to mirror your financial statements by organizing your GL accounts by Type and Account Analysis Codes.
You can create an Income Statement/Profit & Loss by limiting your GL Account Type (Revenue, Expenses) and grouping and/or subtotaling by Type and Account Analysis Code. You can also show columns for PTD (Period-To-Date) and YTD (Year-To-Date) beginning/current results, budget and variances.
For a snapshot of the Balance Sheet, you can limit GL accounts by GL Account Type (Asset, Liability, Equity, R/E) and group and/or subtotal by Type and Account Analysis Code. You can also show columns for PTD and YTD beginning/current results, budget and variances.
You can reduce the number of unnecessary lines in the GL Inquiry screen using the Exclude Zero Balance Accounts check box in the Search or Advanced Search options.
View GL Account Balance Details
From the GL Inquiry screen, you can also drill-down to the transactions that make up the current balance of a selected GL account by double-clicking on the account to open the GL Period Detail screen. The GL Period Detail screen allows you to report on all transactions by searching and grouping on details like event, account or source (for example, Fixed Assets or Payment Plan Invoicing). You can click the link in the Entry Number column to view additional information for the related Journal Entry.
GL Inquiry Columns
The Annual Forecast Value on the GL Inquiry screen is calculated using a combination of the Year-to-Date Actuals plus the remaining year Budget. The Year-to-Date Actuals only include closed fiscal periods.
