Public-Facing Application - The public website where people outside of your organization create and submit proposals. The options, look and feel of the public-facing application is set up within the internal application accessible to licensed users.
Internal Software - The software your organization uses to set up your event and submission forms. This is also where you can view and edit all proposals submitted to an event from the Public-Facing Application. Only licensed users in your organization who have a log in can access the internal software; it cannot be accessed by the public.
Submission/Proposal - The proposed session content from a potential speaker for your event. These terms are used interchangeably.
Topics - Subjects the submitters assign to their proposals. You use Topics to group similar proposals together. Topics may be used to assign the correct evaluators for the proposals and also may be used as conference tracks. Topics are configured in the Topics screen and added to the event submission form.
Presentation Types - How the presentation is delivered. For example, a PowerPoint presentation, lecture, roundtable or panel discussion. Presentation Types are configured in the Abstract Presentation Types screen and added to the event submission form.
Submission Setup - Contains the configuration options that apply to the entire proposal submission process for the event: the available submission forms, contributor roles for submitters, evaluation criteria for the proposals, contact information for the Contact Us button on the public-facing web site.
Submission Forms - Submission forms are configured in the Submission Setup. A Submission Form configures the details for the proposal submission process such as how a submitter logs in and deadlines on when proposal submissions are no longer accepted. The Submission Form also includes configuration details for evaluator and manager account management configuration and custom fields/UDFs.
Opportunity Types/UDFs/Custom Fields - Opportunity Types, UDFs (User Defined Fields) and Custom Fields are three different terms for the same thing in session proposals. You can use UDFs/Custom Fields to create your own fields for a submitter, evaluator or manager to complete. When you add UDFs/Custom Fields to the Submission Form, the UDF/Custom Field responses are stored on the proposal.
Evaluation and Manager Setup - The Evaluator and Manager Setup configures the details for the evaluator and manager process such as how an evaluator and/or manager logs in, what proposals an evaluator can evaluate and what proposals a manager can manage.
Evaluator - A subject matter expert who scores the proposal and provides recommendations to the Manager on whether or not a proposal is appropriate for the event.
Manager - Assigns proposals to Evaluators. Managers also make the final decision on approving or rejecting proposals.
Submitter - Person who is signing up/signing in to submit a proposal. The submitter may also be a Contributor on the proposal.
Contributor - Any person involved in a proposal submission. Contributors can be authors, co-authors, or any other roles you may have set up.
Author - A system defined (hard-coded) role for who wrote the proposal.
Co-Author - A system defined (hard-coded) role for who assisted in authoring a proposal.
Public Sign In Configuration - The Sign In used for the Public-Facing Application. You can have a different Public Sign In for Submitters, Evaluators and Managers. Among other things, the Public Sign In Configuration controls if new people can sign up or if only people who already have log ins to your site can sign in. T
Account Management Configuration - Determines the available account fields for Submitters, Contributors, Evaluators, and/or Managers. Each role (Submitter, Contributor, etc.) can have different account fields to complete. The account fields are visible during the Sign Up or Edit Account process.
