Diagram items are the items used in space diagrams and room diagram to represent tables, chairs, stages, podiums, etc. You can use items from the Momentus Shape Library or import or draw your own diagram items. You can also link diagram items to resources to create item counts and service orders.
To create diagram items from the Momentus Shape Library:
- Click the Diagram Items link from the Main Menu. The Diagram Items page opens.
- Click the arrow next to the Add button and select Add from Momentus Shape Library. The Add New Diagram Item from the Momentus Library window opens.
- Select the item from the Base Item drop-down.
- Enter the name for the item into the Description field. Defaults to the diagram item name in the Momentus Shape Library.
- Click OK. The item is added to the Diagram Items page.
You can then customize the diagram item if needed. For example, you may offer round tables with 5 chairs instead of six. You can use the provided Banquet with 6 chairs diagram item and just delete a chair rather than drawing a new diagram item. To edit a diagram item:
- Click the Diagram Items link from the Main Menu. The Diagram Items page opens.
- Select the diagram item to customize.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Diagram Item window opens.
- Make the necessary changes.
- Click OK.
To import a diagram item:
- Click the Diagram Items link from the Main Menu. The Diagram Items page opens.
- Click the Add button. The Add Diagram Item window opens.
- Enter the name for the diagram item into the Description field.
- Select the measurement value used for the diagram item from the Units drop-down.
- Click the Import from DWG button. The Import window opens.
- Click the Choose Files button. The Open window opens.
- Select the DWG file to import. Make sure the DWG file is cleaned before importing it into the diagram item as uncleaned files may not perform as expected.
- Click the Open button.
- Select the measurement value used for the file from the Select units in DWG file drop-down. You may select a different value than what you selected in step 4.
- Expand the Advanced Layer Mapping section to select the layers to import.
- Click the Insert Row link. A new row inserts into the grid.
- File Layers – Layers from the .DWG file you want to display in the diagram item.
- Layer Description – Defaults when selecting the layer.
- To add additional layers, right-click on the current row and select Insert Row.
- Click OK. The diagram item is created.
To draw your own diagram item:
- Click the Diagram Items link from the Main Menu. The Diagram Items page opens.
- Click the Add button. The Add Diagram Item window opens.
- Enter the name for the diagram item into the Description field.
- Select the measurement value used for the diagram item from the Units drop-down.
- Click the Create Diagram and Begin Editing link. The Edit Diagram Item window opens.
- Use the available tools to draw your diagram item. See the Room Diagram Editing Tools section in Room Diagrams for details on the available tools.
- Click OK when complete.
Assign Resources to Diagram Items
Assigning resources to your diagram items allow you to count items (displays in the lower left corner of the Edit Room Diagram window), generate orders and compare ordered items to placed items. To assign a resource to a diagram item:
- Click the Diagram Items link from the Main Menu. The Diagram Items page opens.
- Select the diagram item to assign the resource.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Diagram Item window opens.
- Select a shape in the diagram item.
- Click Tools > Assign Resource(s). The Assign Resource to Diagram window opens.
- Enter the necessary information:
- Resource - Resource to assign to the diagram item.
- Assign resource to the entire diagram - If selected, the resource is assigned to all the items in the diagram item. For example, if the diagram item contains a table and 4 chairs, the table and all 4 chairs are assigned to the selected resource. When assigning a resource to the entire diagram, you cannot modify any of the shapes within the diagram item when it is used. Using the example of the table and 4 chairs, you cannot remove a chair from the diagram item when using it in a room diagram.
- Assign resource to each individual shape in the selection - If selected, the selected shape in the diagram item is assigned the resource. For example, if the diagram item contains a table and 4 chairs, if the table is selected, then only the table is assigned the resource. To assign the chairs a resource, you need to repeat steps 4 - 7 to assign a resource to the chairs.
- Click OK. An Item Count displays in the lower left corner of the page.
- Click OK.
