Cash Book transaction methods determine the types of transactions that flow through Cash Book. For example, deposit types, bank fees, interest, etc. Cash Book transaction methods are used with cash book transaction types for creating cash book transactions.
Add a Cash Book Transaction Method
- Click the Transaction Methods link under Cash Book from the Main Menu. The Transaction Methods screen opens.
- Click the Add button. The Add Transaction Method screen opens.
- Enter the necessary information:
- Description - Name of the transaction method.
- Status - Only active transaction methods are available for selection when setting up cash book transaction types.
- Code - Unique alphanumeric code.
- Click OK.
Change a Cash Book Transaction Method
You can change the information for a transaction method after you have created it. When you change the information for a transaction method, it updates wherever the transaction method is used. If you don't want to update the already existing transaction method data, then you must add a new transaction method using the steps in Add a Transaction Method.
- Click the Transaction Methods link under Cash Book from the Main Menu. The Transaction Methods screen opens.
- Select the transaction method to edit.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Transaction Method screen opens.
- Make the desired change.
- Click OK.
Inactivate a Cash Book Transaction Method
If you no longer use a transaction method but want to keep record of it for reporting or other purposes, you can make it inactive. When you make a transaction method inactive, it is no longer available for selection for cash book transaction types.
- Click the Transaction Methods link under Cash Book from the Main Menu. The Transaction Methods screen opens.
- Select the transaction method to make inactive.
- Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Transaction Method screen opens.
- Select Inactive from the Status drop-down.
- Click OK.
Delete a Cash Book Transaction Method
If you no longer use a transaction method and don't want to keep a record of it, you can delete it. When you delete a transaction method that is used, you receive a prompt to select a transaction method to replace the transaction method you are deleting. You cannot undo the delete or delete and replace process.
- Click the Transaction Methods link under Cash Book from the Main Menu. The Transaction Methods screen opens.
- Right-click on the transaction method to delete.
- Select Mark for Delete.
- Click the Save button. If the transaction method is used, the Replace screen opens.
- Select the transaction method from the drop-down to replace the deleted transaction method.
- Click OK.
