Occasionally there may be scenarios in which you want to limit the number of people that are attempting to reach your registration (or SOP or FOP) links at any one time. In those scenarios Momentus has the Gatekeeper which can be used to provide a timer and counter allowing a pre-specified number of people on to a URL at any one time.
This feature requires that iEBMS be installed.
To configure follow these steps:
- On your web server in the iEBMS program files folder double click on webconfiguration.exe.
- Navigate to the 'Gatekeeper' tab
- Check the box to 'Enable GateKeeper'
- In the Time Period box enter the number of seconds for which you are attempting to limit the registrations. The recommended value for this field is the amount of time it would take one person to complete a registration +5 seconds.
- In the Max Requests for Time Period box enter the maximum number of requests you would want to allow for the time period above. For instance if you want to limit to no more than 20 registrants at a time trying to register you would enter 20. The number you enter here is dependent on the hardware and load balancing capabilities of your web server(s).
- In Web Page Bold Text type the text you want your people who are waiting to see in Bold
- In Wait Page Message Text you can type out a more detailed description you would like your waiting people to see
- For Retry Limit you'll be entering what is essentially the maximum wait for a person before they would be told they have timed out. We would recommend this number to be set for the absolute maximum number of people you would want hitting your server (not just registration) at any one time.
- For Limit Reached message type in the message the user should see after the maximum number of retries
- Finally, in Redirection URL's type in the URL of your registration page(s). At any one time you may have up to 10 registration URL's (10 events) using the Gatekeeper.
Last but not least, if you would like to customize the look and feel of your gatekeeper pages you'll need to modify the look on the page gat_p2_retry.aspx. Care should be taken when making these changes to be sure not to remove any of the code in the page.
Your URL for the Gatekeeper will be http://yourserver.com/iebms/gat/gat_p1_main.aspx?oc=<your org code>&url=<the number corresponding to the link>

Where is gat_p2_retry.aspx located (we are hosted)? Not seeing anything instinctive in iEBMS Presentation level values.

Hi Rob,
I'm going to have your account manager, Tommy Rowan, contact you to discuss in more detail what you are needing to do so we can come up with the best solution. I've forwarded him your information and should hear from him soon.
Thanks,
Maggie
