Lead Sources

Lead sources are a list of where potential business originated such as Website Inquiry or Tradeshow. Lead sources are used with Account Leads, Event Opportunities and Opportunities.

Add a Lead Source

  1. Click the Lead Sources link from the Main Menu. The Lead Sources page opens.
  2. Click the Add button. The Add Lead Source window opens.
  3. Enter the following information:
    • Description - Name of the lead source.
    • Code - Unique alphanumeric value.
  4. Click OK.

Change a Lead Source Description

You can change the description for a lead source after you have created it. When you change the description of a lead source, it updates wherever the lead source is used. If you don't want to update the already existing lead source data, then you must add a lead source using the steps in Add a Lead Source.

  1. Click the Lead Sources link from the Main Menu. The Lead Sources page opens.
  2. Select the lead source to edit.
  3. Right-click and select Edit. The Edit Lead Source window opens.
  4. Update the description.
  5. Click OK.

Delete a Lead Source

If you no longer use a lead source and don't want to keep a record of it, you can delete it. When you delete a lead source that is used, you receive a prompt to select a lead source to replace the lead source you are deleting. You cannot undo the delete or delete and replace process.

  1. Click the Lead Sources link from the Main Menu. The Lead Sources page opens.
  2. Right-click on the lead source to delete.
  3. Select Mark for Delete.
  4. Click the Save button. If the lead source is used, the Replace window opens.
  5. Select the lead source from the drop-down to replace the deleted lead source.
  6. Click OK.

    This did not work. Upon clicking OK following editing, a red exclamation point appears with the message: Problem saving. We are unable to make changes. We also attempted to refresh. That did not work either. We need to correct two erroneous codes.

    I have added Lead Sources but they don't show up in Accounts.  How can I add lead sources for Accounts?

    I was able to add it by bridging to v19.  Is this now available in v20.8 or v20.82?  We are using v20.7.

    So, if this is for Bulk Leads, why isn't there an option to Import Account Leads??  I only see an option to import Accounts and Contacts. This cuts the "Leads" option out and in the Accounts we have less 'lead' details to choose from. 

    Is there a plan to create an Import for Leads?
