If you receive a “USISHELL.doc is missing” message when adding a document, you need to create a USISHELL file for the document class.
The USISHELL is the template file which opens when you add a document (for example Word or Excel).
To add a USISHELL document to a document class, follow the below steps:
1. From the Main Menu, click on the Document Classes link.
2. On the Document Classes screen, select the document type for the document being added.
3. Click the Edit button.
4. On the Edit Document Class screen, find the Document Path field.
5. Navigate to the document path on your computer. This is outside of Enterprise Software.
6. Create and save a blank document with the necessary extension and USISHELL as the file name (USISHELL.docx for a Word document for example).
7. Navigate back to the Edit Document Class screen and click the Click to Add or Click to Replace link in the Shell field.
8. Select the newly created USISHELL document from the correct document path.
9. Click Open.
10. Click OK.

We are updating our excel files using the old xls to xlsx. I have followed all the steps in the procedure above to create usishell and changed the default in document class to xlsx in the ebms spreadsheet folder however when I change the default I keep getting the message when trying to add an ebms spreadsheet to install office 2003. The procedure worked fine in the excel folder but not in the ebms spreadsheet

Hi Theresa,
The EBMSSpreadsheet still requires the default file type to be .xls which is why you are receiving this message.
Thanks,
Maggie

If you no longer support office 2003 or 2007 why are we still having to use their file formats? Is it in the pipeline to update this?

Hi Theresa,
Office 2010 and 2013 still support the use of the .xls format but adding .xlsx support for the spreadsheet is planned to be completed in the next 12-18 months.
Thanks,
Maggie
