You can validate registrants who are attempting to register using Registrant Type Validation. You may do this if, for example, you have certain pricing available only to members or you only have certain experiences available for VIPs.
You can validate registrants using campaigns or SQL statements. To add registrant type validation for an event:
- Click the Events link from the Main Menu. The Events page opens.
- Select the event for the registrant type validation.
- Right-click and select Tools -> Registration -> Registration Setup. The Registration Setup window opens.
- Select the Pricing tab.
- Expand the Registrant Types section.
- Add a new registrant type (click the Add button) or edit an existing registrant type (select the registrant type, right-click and select Edit). The Add or Edit Event Registrant Type window opens.
- Expand the Validate Registrants section.
- Select the following information:
- None - No validation for the registrant type.
- Campaign - The registrant type validates against the campaign selected in the Campaign drop-down.
- SQL Statement - The registrant type validates against a SQL statement. Enter the SQL statement into the SQL Statement field.
- Restriction - Select what happens if the registrant does not meet the validation requirements for the registrant type:
- Do not allow registrants outside of criteria - Registrants who do not meet the validation requirements cannot register for the event with that registrant type.
- Warn if registrant is outside of criteria - Registrants who do not meet the validation requirements can register for the event but receive a warning that they do not meet the criteria.
- Check the Show only if all other types are outside criteria check box to use the registrant type only if registrants do not meet the validation criteria for other registrant types. Only available if None is selected.
- Click OK.
Example SQL Statement Validation
Below is an example of a SQL statement to validate registrants based on their membership type. In this example, the member type is "BR" for Broker.
SELECT EV870_ACCT_CODE
from ev870_acct_master inner join ev885_member_info
on ev870_org_code = ev885_org_code and
ev870_acct_code = ev885_ext_acct_code
where ev885_member_type = 'BR'
If a registrant is not assigned the Broker member type and attempts to register with the Broker registrant type, the registrant is either warned or prevented from registering based on the restriction setting on the registrant type.
