To change the database location for a Crystal Report:
- From the Crystal Reports Main Menu, navigate to Database and select Set Datasource Location.
- Expand the report item. The report's database connection displays and if the report contains subreports, the subreports' database connections also display.
- If the new datasource is located on a different database server than the old one, in the Current Data Source section, select the connection and in the Replace with section, select the new server. Click the Update button.
- If the new datasource is located on the same database server as the old one, select each table individually and click Update for the main report as well as every subreport listed.
- To add a new database, in the Replace with section, select Create New Connection.
If the new datasource is located on the same database server as the old one and you have access to a datasource located on a different server (even if it is not the one you actually need), you can save time by switching the entire report's connection set to the intermediary data source and then changing it again to the new datasource.
