You can configure a resource so it is only available for particular spaces using Resource Spaces. For example, if a projector is available for only a particular room, you can assign that room to the projector resource so you can only order it for that room.
In addition to having the space assigned to the resource, the function that the order is added to must also have the space assigned. This allows the software to check that the resource is available for the space assigned to the function.
To assign a space to a resource or remove a space from a resource:
- Click the Resources link from the Main Menu. The Resources page opens.
- Select the resource to assign to a space.
- Right-click and select Tools -> Manage Resource Spaces. The Manage Resource Spaces window opens.
- Click the plus (+) sign to the left of the space name in the Available panel to move a single space to the Selected panel. To move multiple spaces to the Selected panel:
- Use Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click to select multiple space(s).
- Click the single right arrow button to move the selected space(s) to the Selected panel on the right. Click the double right arrow button to move all spaces to the Selected panel.
- To remove a space from a resource:
- Click the trash can to the left of the space name in the Selected panel to move a single space to the Available panel. To move multiple spaces to the Available panel:
- Use Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click to select multiple space(s).
- Click the single left arrow button to move the selected space(s) to the Available panel. Click the double left arrow button to move all spaces to the Available panel.
- Click OK.

It would really be usable if this was considered at the time of adding service order items, rather than a validation at the end. In your example, you would have many projectors assigned to many rooms. When I add a Service Order for Room A, I get a listing of all the projectors. At this stage I cannot see or do no know the correct one. If I guess wrong, I get a hard stop and have to try pot luck again. If the projectors that were not available simply didn't show up in the list, I would only have one to choose from and would be guaranteed to get it right.
Interestingly enough, iEBMS SOP does handle this - so perhaps you could steal some code from there?

I second Sean's comment! Any reason the functionality hasn't been updated in back-office?

I've noticed a glitch in this programming.
The programming looks to be assessing whether the Space is one of those listed on Resource Spaces, but doesn't stop the item from being added to a Service Order if the Space is blank. This should be updated to stop if the Space is blank OR if is not one of those listed in Resource Spaces.

Hi Crystal,
This sounds like something that our Support team should dig into. Please enter a support ticket (click Submit a Request at the top of this page) so they can take a look.
